Emily woke up in the kennel without knowing how she had fallen asleep, surrounded by the acrid stench of her own urine. Pain and exhaustion had finally overtaken her. She felt the warm bodies of the rottweilers curled up against her naked frame, their presence strangely comforting despite the circumstances. The morning sun was beginning to rise, casting a soft gray light through the mesh of the kennel.
Emily sat up slowly, her sore muscles protesting every movement. She was covered in bruises and contusions—the brutal remnants of the previous day. The rottweilers watched her with calm curiosity.
